Library Classes: Copyright: Your Rights and Responsibilities

This class is about the aspects of the U.S. Copyright Law that affect the medical school community. It will focus primarily on the Fair Use Clause and how it applies to using copyrighted material in a university environment.

At the completion of this class, the participant will:

  • Understand the "four factors" of fair use and how to determine if your particular use of a copyrighted work falls under fair use protection.
  • Understand what materials fall under copyright protection, and how to request permission to use something if your use doesn't fall under these fair use provisions.
