Library Classes: Intro to NCBI's Bioinformatics Resources for Bioscience Researchers

This class gives an introduction to bioinformatics databases and resources offered through the NCBI--from nucleotide and protein searching and alignment to genome mapping and structure viewing.

CLASS OBJECTIVES: By the completion of this class, the user will:

  • Be familiar with the NCBI global search interface page, know how to select the proper tool and how to navigate using quick links
  • Have basic knowledge to formulate a BLAST search
  • Be able to use MapViewer, Cn3D and other specialized tools for analysis and visualization of biomolecules
