Library Classes: Creating Posters with PowerPoint

A workshop designed to show you tips on using PowerPoint to make posters for presentations and conferences. This class covers how to use the software features to design a poster without needing to know how to use a graphics program.

Note: this class takes place in a Windows computing environment using Microsoft Office PowerPoint.

CLASS OBJECTIVES: At the completion of this class, the participant will:

• Learn some basic characteristics of a good scientific poster
• Know how to create a custom-sized document that can be printed in a large format
• Learn how to insert images, textboxes, and other graphical elements and modify them
