What's New in EndNote
Linda O'Dwyer, MSLIS, Education Librarian, l-odwyer@northwestern.edu
Did you know that the Galter Library is your source for EndNote training and help? The Galter Library supports the use of EndNote, the bibliographic management software from ISI. The latest version of EndNote, 7.0, can be found on 10 computers in the Learning Resources Center (LRC) at the library. Librarians teach regular classes in the use of EndNote about twice a month at the library. If you are unable to attend a class or need particular attention, library staff are also available for one-on-one or group EndNote consultations and training at the library or at your Chicago campus office. To see our schedule of classes, go to the Galter Library Web site and choose either the Classes or Education links. You can contact the Education team directly at galter-ed@northwestern.edu or (312) 503-8109 to set up an individual or group training appointment. These services are available to current affiliates of the Feinberg School of Medicine.
Recently, EndNote users may have experienced problems importing citations from PubMed or using the direct export option in Ovid MEDLINE. EndNote is aware of these issues and has placed updated import filters on their web site which should resolve the problems.
PubMed: PubMed users who import citations into EndNote may have been missing citations after the import process is complete. To fix this, go to the EndNote Web site and read the PubMed News Alert. Follow the instructions to download the new import filter for PubMed.
Ovid MEDLINE: Since Ovid performed their annual reload of MEDLINE, the direct export feature has not been working properly. To fix this, go to the EndNote website and scan the EndNote filters page for the Ovid MEDLINE filter dated 1/23/04. Download and save this filter to your Filters folder in your EndNote program files.
Please contact the Galter Library Education Team at galter-ed@northwestern.edu or (312) 503-8109 if you have any questions.
