Jerry Pendergast Receives a Service Excellence Award

Kurt Munson, MSLIS, Head, User Services, kmunson@northwestern.edu

Jerry Pendergast
Jerry Pendergast, a Clerk III in the Circulation Department, received a service excellence award from Northwestern University in recognition of his hard work in a recent shifting project. Over the course of FY 2003, Jerry relocated over 3000 linear feet of journals dated 1975 to 1984 to the library’s basement.

This was not a simple project of moving materials; each title had to be interfiled with its companion earlier volumes, the collection had to be split into two separate areas of the basement based on the volume’s height, and all of the existing materials (over 10,000 linear feet) in the basement needed to be shifted to incorporate the additional materials. To top it all, Jerry coordinated this project with other departments in the library and completed it without any problems or mistakes. Thank you Jerry!
