Improved User Services at the Galter Library

Loan Period for Books Doubled
In response to user requests, the Galter Library has changed the loan period for books to 28 days, which is twice the previous loan period. The Library made this change after finding that 34% of the books checked out were renewed. Books may be renewed two times for 14 days each. This change took place on March 1, 2004.
Photocopier Reorganization
The Galter Library has reorganized and moved the photocopiers in the library. We eliminated two copiers as their maintenance agreements have ended and our copier volume has dropped due to increased e-journals usage.
The remaining photocopiers are relocated as follows:
- Level 1 (first floor) copier room: one black and white copier and one color copier.
- Mezzanine: one black and white copier.
- Lower Level (basement): one black and white copier with coin box attached.
Library users are now able to add money to their copy cards on all floors.
A photocopier was moved to the basement to ease copying of older journals.
Since an additional 10 years of journals were relocated to the basement last
year, the need for a photocopier in the basement has increased. We are happy
to provide this service again.
