Meet the Library's New Associate Director

James Shedlock, AMLS, Library Director, Email Jim

Heidi Nickisch Duggan, MA, became the Galter Library’s new Associate Director on January 14, 2008.

Heidi comes to Northwestern from the University of South Dakota (USD) where she was assistant professor and Head of Access Services and Systems at the Lommen Health Sciences Library, Sanford School of Medicine.  She has held various other positions at USD since 1994.  Previous library positions include serving as a reference/bibliographic instruction librarian and circulation/reference librarian at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO as well as holding an instructor of English position at the same school.

New Electronic Resources for 2008

The Galter Library is constantly striving to update our electronic resources and bring the most current tools to our patrons' desktops. With the new year, the library is continuing to increase its electronic collection. It is anticipated that most of the resources listed should be accessible in early 2008.

EcoSal

Northwestern University libraries have collaboratively licensed this American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Web information resource. Continually updated, it is based on the classic ASM Press publication, Escherichia coli and Salmonella: Cellular and Molecular Biology. It is an archive of the entire corpus of knowledge on the enteric bacterial cell, comprised of several hundred modules of information and interpretation, including the genome database.

Ovid SP, the New Interface to Ovid Databases and Books

Ovid has unveiled its new interface, called OvidSP. The new search interface retains much of the functionality of the previous Ovid interface, and some new functions and features have been added. The new OvidSP interface will be seen when accessing all Ovid information resources licensed by the libraries- databases, online books, and online journals.
