Try Ovid SP, the New Interface to Ovid Databases and Books

Ovid has unveiled a new interface called Ovid SP which is currently running alongside the current Ovid Gateway interface. You can preview Ovid SP by clicking on "Try Ovid SP" in the current Ovid Gateway.

You may want to familiarize yourself with the new interface as it will be replacing the current Ovid Gateway in February, 2008. All of the searches you have saved in the Ovid Gateway should be accessible from Ovid SP. However, any searches you save in Ovid SP will not be accessible from the Ovid Gateway.

Browser Requirements
Currently supported browsers:
•    Internet Explorer 6 or higher
•    Firefox 2.x or higher
•    Netscape 8.02 or higher

Sorry Mac users, Safari is not supported in the initial release.

Search Tab Options
There are now several search options which can be selected using the tabs above the search box.

Basic Search—This is a natural language search. By default, search results will be displayed using a new proprietary relevancy ranking system.

Ovid Syntax—This is the traditional Ovid Gateway advanced search which maps you to appropriate subject headings.

Find Citation—Enter information about a specific reference (e.g. author name, journal title, etc.) to retrieve that reference. You'll find this similar in functionality to PubMed Single Citation Manager.

Search Fields—Use this to search for your term(s) within specific fields (e.g. title, author, abstract) of references in MEDLINE, PsycInfo, or other Ovid databases.

Search Tools—Search the MeSH Tree, permuted index, and more.

New features in Ovid SP

Relevancy Ranking—Result lists generated from searches run in the Basic Search mode are arranged by relevance score based on a proprietary algorithm designed by Ovid.

Annotation of results—Users are able to annotate individual references with personal notes. Note: When exporting references into EndNote, annotations will not be included.
