OvidSP and Ovid MEDLINE: Galter Library's Updated Guide and Class

This article was featured in Library Notes, #46 (Winter 2008).

Ovid has unveiled its new interface, called OvidSP. The new search interface retains much of the functionality of the previous Ovid interface, and some new functions and features have been added. Northwestern University and affiliated Ovid searchers will note the new OvidSP interface when accessing all Ovid information resources licensed by the libraries - databases, online books, and online journals.
  • Ovid has anticipated some frequently asked questions. Click on the Display Knowledge Base link, located at the top right portion of the main Ovid search screen.
  • To support the information needs of Galter Library's Ovid users, particularly those who search MEDLINE, Galter Library's Education librarians have updated the guide, Basic Ovid MEDLINE.
  • To reflect the Ovid interface changes, the regularly scheduled Ovid MEDLINE class now has a new name, "The Metamorphosis of the Ovid Search Interface". Visit the Galter Library's class schedule, to view the calendar and see when this class and all scheduled Galter Library training sessions are offered.

For general Ovid and other information searching tips, contact the Galter Library's Reference Desk, ghsl-ref@northwestern.edu or call 312-503-8109. Click here to view the hours when Reference team members are on duty.
