The Galter Library will soon require that all users who sign into the library website use a NetID. The old username/password combination will no longer work. We recommend that you link your NetID immediately to ensure uninterrupted library website access.
Advantages of using NetID authentication include simplifying the sign in process and increased security as NetID passwords are changed on a regular basis.
How do I link my NetID to my Galter Library website account?
When you sign into the Galter Library website, you will be given the option to sign in with your NU NetID. Once you do this and link your NetID to your Galter Library website account, you can use your NetID to sign into the library website for all future visits.
What if I have a NetID, but don't know my NetID password?
All NU faculty, staff, students and residents should already have a NetID. Follow these instructions to find out your NetID and reset a NetID password.
- Check to see if you have a NetID by searching in the NU Online Directory.
- If you already have a NetID, but don't know your NetID password (because it's forgotten or expired), you can try to reset your NetID password online.
- If the online option does not work for you, you can visit the NUIT Support Kiosk located in the WildCARD office in Abbott Hall. Here you can receive an activation code that you can use to log in to NU Validate and update a forgotten or expired NetID password.
- If you cannot reset your NetID password online or are unable to visit the NUIT Support Kiosk, contact NUIT at 847-491-HELP.
What if I don't have a NetID?
If you don't have a NetID, contact your department's NU NetID administrator to find out how to get one. If you don't know who that is, contact the Galter Library.
