Over the last several months, we’ve been working hard to update and refresh the look of the library’s website. The impetus for change was to bring the site into compliance with Feinberg School of Medicine and Northwestern University brand requirements. The header and footer are now consistent with the graphic identity of other FSM and NU websites. While the functionality of the new site remains largely the same as the old one, we have made a few changes:

Your Home Page GalterList

When you sign into the new site, you will find your primary GalterList on the left side of the home page, along with any other lists you have created. Click on the name of the list to access all your favorites. If you want to go directly to the list every time you come to our site, just bookmark the list page instead of the Galter Library home page. List links are arranged alphabetically and you can use the filters on the right side of the list page to narrow down to particular items.

Search

The search function now defaults to the library’s brand new search application, GalterSearch. You can now search for electronic and print resources, as well as articles in one convenient interface. You can also search PubMed directly from the library website—just click on the PubMed tab after running a search. The search is still in beta and you can switch back to the old search at any time. Eventually this will replace the current Galter website search, so we urge you to familiarize yourself with it.  If the new search is not working the way you expect, please let us know.

Popular Resources and Popular Pages

You will now find a list of popular resources, such as PubMed and Ovid MEDLINE, on the left side of every page on our site. A list of Popular Pages and Highlights, such as EndNote Support, also appears here and will change based on the page you are viewing.

Highlighted Features on our Home Page

The first thing you will probably notice about the new home page is the rotating feature area at the center. This section will highlight new resources, services, and items of interest to the Feinberg School of Medicine community. Below that you will find links to news and events.

For the moment, you can still revert to the old site—click the link in the lower left-hand corner on any page. If you do, please tell us why using the Send Us Your Comments form on either site. We want to make this site as useful as possible and we need to hear your feedback. By mid-August, the new site will have replaced the old one permanently.
