Stay Current

The Stay Current tool is designed to alert you to the most current journal literature in your field of interest, and provide a link to the abstracts or the full-text, if available, of those articles. (Note: the Web site also includes links to general health information from the media under the heading: What's in the News. This is not customizable.)

The Stay Current feature is actually a search of the MEDLINE database, via PubMed, for the most recent articles described by a search term. By default, the search terms for each specialty profile are the names of the top journals in that specialty. But you can personalize this tool by entering any search term, including Boolean operators, etc.

To customize your Stay Current queries:

  • Log in to the HSL
  • Choose Edit HSL > Stay Current from the menu bar across the top of the page or click the Edit link in the Stay Current section
  • You will come to a page that lists your current Stay Current terms with options to edit or delete those terms, add new terms, and/or revert to your specialty profile.
  • The more specific your search strategy, the more precise your results will be.
  • You can cut and paste search strategies from PubMed for optimal results.
  • After you have added new terms, click the Home button to see that your changes have taken effect.
